Safety
Local radio and TV stations will almost always
broadcast information regarding school closures, school
bus routes and road conditions. If local stations do not
mention school closures, expect the school buses to run
on regular routes at regular times.
Parents,
please:
- Have your children dress
in clothing that is appropriate for the weather
and the season.
- Get your children safely
to and from designated school bus stops. Students
should arrive at the bus stop no fewer than five
(5) and no more than ten (10) minutes before
the scheduled pick up time.
- Be at the bus stop with
your students to assist them with proper safety
procedures. Students must wait for the bus at
a safe spot off the road and watch traffic carefully.
- Have a backup plan in case the bus is delayed.
If the bus is late, children should remain at the
stop for no more than 15 minutes past the
scheduled leave time. School bus drivers will run
routes as scheduled; however, if snowplows are
unable to clear the roads or other difficulties
arise, delays may occur.
Tips
for Parents
- Have your children dress
in clothing that is appropriate for the weather
and the season. Avoid clothes with drawstrings and
backpacks with long straps, as these can get caught
on parts of the bus.
- Coordinate with other parents
to ensure that adults are present at the bus stop
every day. Students should arrive at the stop no
fewer than five (5) and no more than ten (10) minutes
before the scheduled pick-up time.

your students to help them with safety procedures.
Please help them to wait for the bus at a safe spot
off the road (10 feet from the road if there is
no sidewalk), watch traffic carefully and avoid
rough play.
- Have a backup plan in case
the bus is delayed. If the bus is late, children
should remain at the stop for no more than 15 minutes
past the scheduled leave time. School bus drivers
will run routes as scheduled; however, if snowplows
are unable to clear the roads or other difficulties
arise, delays may occur.
- Teach your children to
- Ask their drivers for
help if they drop something near the bus.
- Be safe riders, facing
forward, staying seated, speaking quietly while
on the bus and following bus rules.
- If you have safety concerns
about the bus stop location, please contact the
school.
- If your child does not arrive
at school or at home as expected, please call your
school or the dispatch office at Beach Transportation,
549-6121, Ext. 2, for assistance.

and avoid rough play.

ask your driver for help; stay away from the bus,
as your driver may move it, not realizing that you
are not safely out of harm's way.

- Take 10 giant steps away
from the bus before crossing in front of it.
- Never walk behind the
bus.
- Look both ways for traffic
before crossing the road.
- Wait for your driver to
signal you to cross.
